Stretcy DIY Slime

  Stretchy DIY Slime

So as I'm sure many kids do, my Daughter, Genesis is obsessed with making and playing with slime! To the point of sneaking and trying to make it on her own w/her 4yr old Brother, my Son Damian. Which I mean yea I get a bit irritated because she uses her own idea of ingredients based on what she sees on YouTube along with whatever she finds on her 'covert' half a dozen bathroom trips to collect ingredients- But I was a kid too... Not too long ago actually lol, so I don't get too mad ya'know. She see's an idea and is like her Momma get's her own little ideas for the idea she finds and thinks about the 50 different things she could create from that one orig. idea. :) We had made slime once before, I finally gave in and found a pretty simple 'recipe' and the slime turned out pretty good, like it was supposed to I guess because Genesis and Damian were happy with it.
So I thought the one time I gave in would be enough to keep her satisfied but I should of known it would only be a short lived temporary happiness lol. So for the past 2 weeks she has attempted to create her own version of slime on at least 3 occasions, I continued to put her off, because we didn't have all the ingredients and it's a pain to get to the store some days with all the kids and the super heat we have had so far this summer. So today we found another simple sounding recipe and I decided what the heck! We got ready and walked to Dollar Tree and picked up the ingredients, which the trip though it was already 91 degrees at 10:00 A.M when we started walking, went OK- a bit chaotic in the store but that is nothing new,
I picked up a couple other items I needed for 2 shower boxes I am currently working on for orders I have, I got a Dunkin Donuts coffee *(Damian had to go pee so that was my excuse to get a coffee!!!) Genesis carried the coffee all the time through the store, on way home (I was pushing my 19mo old Son, Caius in his little moo cow umbrella stroller we got at Walmart which is so cute and very easy to use) We got home I know she was so excited to start making the slime so I got everything ready in the kitchen, heated up the water, etc... Then 'It happened!" Caius knocked my coffee off my desk!! OMG can I tell you, as silly and probably dumb as it sounds I had been waiting to get home so I could enjoy the coffee, which I don't drink everyday anymore, I've cut down to a once a week or so, so it's kind of become a treat now.. I was so 'devastated' lol the only fitting word.
**But back to the story at hand- Sorry IDK why I felt it necessary to add that but I had to get it out- it wasn't Caius' fault so I couldn't be mad at him, but anyways... Onto the Slime.....
-4oz warm water   -Elmer's white glue 4oz   -Shaving cream
-Lotion (optional)   -Food coloring (optional- we Didn't use, as I have before and it can be quite messy)  -Liquid laundry detergent (we use Tide Free & Gentle) -plastic mixing bowl   -plastic spoon/spatula

Pour glue in bowl, add warm water *(I followed the recipe for the most part, but I usually find that I end up having to or just because winging it a bit) I added the water slowly *I use this same first 2 steps in my recipe for making the fake formula sealed bottles so I kind of know the consistency it needed to be.*
**NOTE: Pics below are Not in order- I will add notes next to each picture to give a better idea.**
Glue mixed with warm water

 what we used

Add shaving cream- stir until you get a creamy fluff/marshmallow like texture

Slowly add laundry detergent *Do Not add all at once or else it will become instantly hardened and not in the way you want.

add a couple drops of lotion- if want to creates a stretchier slime

this was Not listed on the directions/recipe I just had tried this the first time we made slime- Baby rice cereal, I added a tiny bit when removing from bowl and put a bit on counter before began to knead it. (helps with sticking and makes it easier- think of when you make a homemade from scratch recipe and you use flour to roll out pie crust or w.e.)

Ingredients LIst

After about 20 mins of Genesis kneading it

came out pretty well- we had to adjust a couple ingredients as we went along to reach desired texture and feel.
