Father's Day 2018
As I have stated many times I love any type of DIY projects and making things, etc... So when a gift giving occasion comes around I find even more inspiration- *(I purchase gifts of course for the kids for Christmas, Birthday, etc- ) But for some occasions and individuals I find making them a gift gives it an added touch of special and from the heart.
My Dad recently opened a new store; he sells records, dvds/vhs, comics, and more. To start at the beginning for Mother's Day I had made my Stepmom (my Dad's girlfriend) a hand made butterfly mobile, which at the time she asked me to keep home until they opened the store because she was going to hand it there.... so of course 🔮 (it's supposed to be a light bulb I could not find one in the emojis and objects lol) I thought if it's going in the store, which is a store for records, music, and more I could make a new mobile with records and music notes instead to hang in the store so I printed out some music notes cute em out used glue dots (they are made for pics & scrapbooking mostly) to glue the cut outs onto a decorative backround paper and laminated them. Cut them out again and threaded them- I didn't use an embroidery hoop as I have in the past- i used a cardboard craft/cake circle which i decorated with white & red polka dotted ribbon. then i threaded beads onto the top and bottom of each strand. i use thin metal tool/craft wire which i thread through the top with 3 pieces and wrap together to make the hanger on top i am going to bead that as well today before i wrap it and give to my Dad later this afternoon. I thought it could just be my Father's Day gift to him at the same time!
*Since first writing this post I redid the entire mobile I had made for my Dad- my Stepmom got me a ton of craft, beads, thread/ribbon, & more supplies/materials for my projects, boxes and other things I love!!! which i LOVE everything she got me!!! so I redid the entire mobile... Updated pics below. *I took the pictures with my laptop so they are not as good as i'd hoped for it's a pain in the butt to use laptop for pics lol

I put the mobile flat on my desk and spread out the strands to try and show better pic of the tools after finished coloring, laminating, and threading on. |

I didn't take the best pics because not only is my desk/work area in front of the AC which kept blowing it around but it's not 100% finished. |

One of the free printable/downloadable record templates I used. *NOTE: records are not on the mobile at this time am working on adding today! |

For my Boyfriend, Scott- made by me from the kids LOL So my boyfriend, Scott loves tools; he loves building, fixing and all that type of stuff and unfortunately when we moved he had to downsize and no longer has his work room, which he had at our last apartment so he does not get to do all the things he loves as much. The kids and I were working on ideas for gifts for him- which I had started making a keepsake quilt using some of the kids' outgrown shirts, onesies, etc and other fabric. This is not finished and was no where near close when Father's Day came this past Sunday so I was looking up different DIY ideas online, i found a couple print outs for books, etc but for his Birthday I had made him a special hand made keepsake scrapbook/album so I wanted a new idea at least until I finish the quilt. So for my 4yr old Damian he wanted to print out a Masha & Bear coloring page so i did, and then i found a bunch of tool templates and coloring pages- i thought i could make him a little mobile as well. I printed out tool templates and colored, cut, also glued with glue dots the backround paper and laminated them. **Pretty much all the same steps, I just didn't add beads because I threaded a couple of them differently so it filled the space beads normally are used for. I spent like 2hours all together coloring, cutting, etc and then i hung it up. i feel like it could of come out better but i was trying to finish it quickly. ***NOTE: Pictured of Tool Mobile are above I couldn't get them to post below this description. |
